Obstetrician
Giving birth is one of life’s most extraordinary experiences — a time filled with excitement, anticipation, and often many questions. Dr Jordon Wimsett understands the emotions and decisions that come with pregnancy and is dedicated to supporting you through every stage, helping you feel informed, confident and cared for.
Originally from Auckland, Dr Wimsett graduated from the University of Otago Medical School in 2013 and completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Obstetrics and Medical Gynaecology in 2016. She undertook her specialist training at Auckland, Middlemore, and Hastings Hospitals before completing a Fellowship at the Royal
Devon University Hospital in the United Kingdom.
Alongside her private practice, Dr Wimsett works as an obstetrician at Auckland City Hospital and serves as a clinical lecturer at the University of Auckland. She is also active in research, co-leading the BEAD Study clinical trial and completing a PhD focused on improving the safety of caesarean birth for mothers and babies. Her
clinical interests include high-risk pregnancies, preterm birth, and maternal medicine.
“Pregnancy is such a personal and transformative time,” says Dr Wimsett. “Having experienced pregnancy and raising children myself, I understand how reassuring it can be to have a familiar, trusted face supporting you every step of the way. My role
is to provide expert care and clear guidance, while also being a calm, steady presence for you and your family. I want every parent I care for to feel confident, informed and supported as they welcome their baby into the world.”
Outside of medicine, Dr Wimsett enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with her husband, two young children, and walking their cavoodle, Teddy, around Mt Eden.
